I started Toilet Face from my university bedroom, sparked by the simple yet novel idea of gifting a friend a roll of toilet paper printed with their face. There was nothing like it on the market, so I took it upon myself to create it. With a knack for electronics and a dash of entrepreneurial spirit, I devised a printer tailored to delicately print on tissue paper.
Today, my workshop in Sheffield is the heart of Toilet Face. I run the show solo most of the year, but during peak seasons, I’m joined by a wonderful team of locals. They help me manage the holiday rushes, but around here, I’m still fondly known as the ‘bog roll man,’ always at the helm.
Each novelty toilet roll by Toilet Face is crafted from sustainably sourced paper, fully recyclable, marrying novelty with environmental consciousness. It’s incredible to think that what started as a fun project in my bedroom has grown into this. The journey has been full of surprises, and honestly, I’m amazed this is still my job today—but it’s incredibly rewarding. My mum always said I’d end up doing something creative, weird, and business-oriented. She was spot on!
